I was asked to make this commission to the customer’s own design. I assisted him with material selection sizes and method of construction. The stands were to be placed outside and either side of the doorway to a glasshouse and consisted of a larger lower shelf and a smaller upper shelf. Part of the design criteria was not to make them so heavy that moving them would be too difficult. The design was very geometric in shape and I persuaded the customer to allow me to try to get some more organic features in where possible as it was essentially to show off bonsai trees to their best advantage.
