I have done many jobs for the building restoration sector working with Heritage building contractors and Timber frame specialists. I find this type of work especially rewarding as it combines functionality with aesthetics. It also often calls for copying an original piece and reproducing it, this is sometimes challenging but it’s enjoyable to work out the method of manufacture.
All of these straps were made bespoke for a 15th century barn in Odiham High Street in Hampshire for Oakwrights of Frensham Ltd. They were finished in beeswax applied to the straps hot. This was considered to be adequate as they are internal and on show.
